Humour...

I hope no-one gets offended by this pic, but I thought it was rather humourous!

Click on the picture to get a look at the name of the ship.

Venus enters Leo...

today in Kilmore at 2.12am.

Venus moving into Leo bodes well for all you lovely lions out there. Having this planet visit your sign is very helpful in smoothing out some of the difficult situations we all encounter from time to time... it's a bit like having our own personal diplomat travel with us while Venus travels through your sign.

On a mundane level, Venus travelling through Leo suggests that our relating skills and the way we interact with others will be stable, loyal and fiery.

Have a look at which houses are ruled by Venus and Taurus to get a feel for which areas of your life may become more stable now and which people are also likely to become more reliable and also a bit more expressive.

Mercury enters Libra...

today in Kilmore at 6.18am.

Mercury's move into Libra suggests that communication should be more 'pleasant', even if the information exchanges isn't as precise as when it was travelling through Virgo!

This planet is beginning to slow down as it gets ready to turn retrograde on September 7 so this slowing down could suggest that communication and information in general is getting a bit on the sluggish side. Wherever this planet is in your birth chart by house may also be affected, for example if you have Mercury transiting your 5th House, a love affair may become stagnant or it's progress may slow down, one of your children could be dragging their feet on something you have agreed on, or perhaps a creative project has lost its 'oomph'!

Also look to see which houses are ruled by this planet to get an idea of how, and who may affected or represented by this move of Mercury into Libra. Whatever or whoever it symbolises is likely to be more pleasant do deal with, and perhaps fairer in an overall sense.

Mars enters Cancer...

today in Kilmore at 3.15am.

Mars is associated with how we go for what we want, express our anger, our energy levels, and can represent 'male' energy in our lives. Moving from Gemini into Cancer, Mars is moving away from an intellectual approach to achieving what it wants, to an emotional and more motivated way of moving forwards (or sideways if you can imagine how a crab moves!).

Mars in Cancer, if you can imagine the crab analogy again, is likely to work indirectly towards achieving it's goals. So look to where Mars in travelling in your chart and which houses are ruled by Aries and Scorpio to see where an indirect approach may be more suitable or it may represent a person who is working in this way.

Mars Opposing Retrograde Pluto...

starts on August 26 (using a 1 degree orb), is exact in Kilmore on August 27 at 6.35am, and leaves on August 28. Mars at 0 degrees and 43 minutes of Cancer, Retrograde Pluto at 0 degrees and 43 minutes of Capricorn.

Mars is still in at the anaretic zero degree of Cancer, so may still be a bit 'wobbly' after changing signs! This planet is about how we assert ourselves, and how we go after what we want (or who we want) in our lives.

Pluto is associated with deep emotions, transformation and change, as well as power and control. Being retrograde simply suggests that we have all had to go back to a person or situation in order to make some final touches to the changes in our lives associated with them.

Oppositions represents MAJOR turning points, and this is likely to be a powerful one (especially with all the current activity in the sky and hard aspects to Pluto). By looking back to when Mars and Pluto were last conjunct we can get an idea of what or who may be reaching a turning point in our lives. Think back to what was happening (something or someone new coming into your life) at the end of December 2008: this conjunction happened at 1 degree of Capricorn.

This opposition is about objectivity as well, so this is as objective as you will get in understanding what or who began at the end of last year.

Stationary Mercury Square Retrograde Pluto...

starts on August 25 (using a 1 degree orb), is exact on August 27 in Kilmore at 2.09am, leaves on August 28. Stationary Mercury at 0 degrees and 44 minutes of Libra, retrograde Pluto at 0 degrees and 44 minutes of Capricorn.

Mercury is beginning to slow down in preparation for going retrograde, so symbolically this could mean that our thinking and processing of information may be slowing down as well. People and situations represented in our birth charts (see which house Mercury is travelling through and which houses have Gemini/Virgo on the cusp) may also seem to slow down as well.

Pluto, the planet (or whatever you want to call it these days!) represents transformation, change, power and intense feelings. It is currently travelling backwards and suggests that whatever is affected by this planet in your chart is likely to be regressing in one way or another. Alternatively, it may be a person that has gone back to old ways. For example, if you have Scorpio or Pluto involved with your 7th house, it could be your marriage or business partner going back to bad habits.

The square is always about adjusting and reaching a cross road, particularly in relation to a person or situation that came into your life when these two planets were last conjunct in the middle of December in 2008. This is likely to be an emotionally intense, and powerful period of time where we will all have the chance to gain a deeper understanding of a person or situation in our lives.

Sun enters Virgo...

today in Kilmore at 9.39am.

The Sun moving into the earthy and practical side of Virgo suggests that we all have the chance now to focus on paying attention to the details of our lives and for looking after ourselves and others with a little more care.

Look to which house has Virgo on it to get an idea of which areas of your life (and which people) are likely to be under scrutiny.

Sun Trine Retrograde Pluto...

starts on August 23 (using a 1 degree orb), is exact in Kilmore on August 24 at 4.20am, leaves on August 25. Sun at 0 degrees and 45 minutes of Virgo, retrograde Pluto at 0 degrees and 45 minutes of Capricorn.

Pluto has been travelling backwards for some time now and has been in Capricorn for enough time to get used to it in this sign: this planet (or whatever you want to call it these days - I'm sticking to planet) is about intense emotions, hidden treasure, transformation and slow but sure change in our lives.

The Sun acts a spotlight or trigger to whatever it touches, and the connection by trine suggests that our progress towards transformation will be helped by the encouraging trine from the Sun. Trines usually help to remove barriers to progress so whatever you have been trying to change (Pluto) should make at least a little bit of progress now. However, if you have been avoiding something that needs changing (or someone!), then this trine suggests that your own ability to stop something necessary happening will not be able to be continued.

Remember to look to where this trine is happening in your birth chart as well as which houses are ruled by the Sun (Leo) and Pluto (Scorpio).

Venus Trine Retrograde Uranus...

starts today using a 1 degree orb, is exact on August 23 at 9.31am, leaves August 24. Venus at 25 degrees and 37 minutes of Cancer, retrograde Uranus at 25 degrees and 37 minutes of Pisces.

Venus has a particularly gentle feel as it moves through the watery sign of Cancer, so the way we relate to others may be more emotionally based than usual. The trine to Uranus (planet of eccentricity and electricity) suggests that if there have been barriers to connecting with the Uranian aspects of your life or people represented by this symbol in your birth chart, that these will be removed now. Trines tend to remove barriers to successful connection of two energies.

Because Uranus is involved, this may happen suddenly or in an usual way. As usual, look to where this transit is happening in your birth chart and to which houses are ruled by the two planets: Venus = Taurus and Libra, Uranus = Aquarius.

Mercury Opposing Retrograde Uranus...

starts today (using a 1 degree orb), is exact at 9.47pm, and leaves August 22. Mercury at 25 degrees and 40 minutes of Virgo, retrograde Uranus at 25 degrees and 40 minutes of Pisces.

Mercury is a planet associated with data, information, communication, 'exchanges' and connecting with others mentally. Uranus is VERY energetic and 'electrical', and the combination of these two energies through the dynamic opposition suggests to me a bit of a mind blowing time!

At one level something or someone may 'blow our minds'! Or perhaps a sudden realisation will dramatically change the way you handle a particular person or situation (probably related to something that started or someone that came into your life when Mercury and Uranus were conjunct last - around 22 March 2009 at 23 degrees of Pisces).

So, by looking at where these aspects are you can get a better idea of what to expect. Also look to see which houses are ruled by Mercury (Gemini and Virgo), and Uranus (Aquarius).

Upcoming Change...

Just browsing the next and found this article about the upcoming Saturn/Pluto square and other dynamic energy combinations and thought you might like to have a look.

Have a look at the first paragraph below and if you want to read me follow this link!

Everything looks quiet and optimistic this summer of 2009. The news on the TV say that the first signs of recovery in the world economy are now visible. Nothing seems disturbing around us. But beyond the calm blue sea ahead of us, we Astrologers discern on the horizon an enormous tsunami coming over! Some relatively rare and harsh planetary formations that will appear in our sky on autumn and will keep on for several years pre-announce a major crisis, not only in economic terms but universally! The last time similar formations had shown up was during the Great Depression , back in the ’30’s!

New Moon...

today in Kilmore at 8.02pm at 27 degrees and 32 minutes of Leo.

New Moons are always opportunities for making a fresh start... depending on where it falls in your birth chart of course! If you are a Leo, then this New Moon is especially important for making conscious efforts to think about what you would like to achieve over the coming year.

All other zodiac signs can look to where this New Moon falls in your birth chart to think about how you can make a fresh start. For example, I have it falling in my 3rd House, so I will be thinking about how successfuly (or not) my communication style is, my attitude to life in general, and also try to get a better understanding of the relationship I have with my siblings.

Some of the aspects important in this lunation include the opposition to the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune grouping and the helpful sextile from Mars.

Mars Square Retrograde Uranus...

starts on August 19 using a 1 degree orb, exact on August 19 in Kilmore at 12.24pm, leaves August 20. Mars at 25 degrees and 45 minutes of Gemini, retrograde Uranus at 25 degrees and 45 minutes of Pisces.

We all are in need of some serious 'earthing' with this energy! Mars travelling through the air sign of Gemini may contribute to the ignition of a volatile, 'electrical' situation... the combination of Mars and Uranus looks as though it will provide the spark that will ignite an unexpected and exciting turning point in the areas represented by your birth chart.

Squares generally represented a period tension, following by a turning point and growth. By looking back to when Mars and Uranus were last together we can get a feeling for what or who came into our lives back then, and what to look for now.

These two planets were last together in the middle of April 2009 at 22 degrees of Pisces. So, by looking at where this conjunction happened you can get an idea of what or who came into your life back then (conjunctions represent something or someone new); and by looking at where the current square is happening in terms of which houses they fall in, you can get a feel for where something needs to change. Also look to see which houses these planets rule (Mars = Aries and Scorpio, Uranus = Aquarius).

Astrology and Magic...

I was browsing the web and came across this article which I think is interesting - especially if you work with magic or the occult in any way. The title is 'The Natal Astrology of Magic Workers' and was written by Marguerite Hafeman.

The introductory paragraph goes like this
:

World famous witch and astrologer Sybil Leek once noted, "All human beings have magic in them. The secret is to know how to use this magic, and astrology is a vital tool for doing just that." Access to astrology in the past was restricted largely by demonizing it, while the informed elite continued to use its services in secret; today advocates of "hard science" routinely debunk astrology, applying "objectively reasoned" test conditions in a context that does not adequately apply to the dynamic functionality of the art. Astrology is the one discipline that can unite the cognate, sensate, emotional and intuitive realms with the phenomena of physical manifestation, not only as pertains to earthly affairs but as connected with the larger cosmos. However unless one is strongly motivated to get past reading daily sun sign predictions, the personal empowerment available through utilizing astrological technique often goes untapped.

Sun Opposing Retrograde Neptune...

starts (with a 1 degree orb) on August 17, exact on August 18 at 6.55am (Sun at 25 degrees and 4 minutes of Leo, retrograde Neptune at 25 degrees and 4 minutes of Aquarius), leaves on August 19.

Mmmm, the Sun combining with Neptune through the opposition could manifest in sooooooo many ways!

As some of you are probably already aware, the Sun acts as a trigger when connecting with other planetary energies so highlights whatever it touches. The picture I am getting with this combination is trying to drive through a thick fog with high beam lights on in the car: which makes vision worse, not better.

It seems that at some level we may be looking too much at a situation in the wrong way or on the wrong level, making whatever we are focusing on look distorted... kind of like looking at the magic images that look like random shapes, etc until you look at them in a certain way (I've never been able to do this successfully). So, I get the feeling that we all need to look to what this opposition means by looking at where the Sun and Neptune are in the birth chart and which houses they rule (Sun = Leo, Neptune = Pisces) to get an idea of where we need to look at things in a different way or on another level.

Perhaps we need to use our inner vision rather than our physical vision.

Mercury Conjunct Saturn...

starts on August 17 (using a 1 degree orb), is exact in Kilmore on August 18 at 1.14am (at 21 degrees and 12 minutes of Virgo), and leaves on August 18.

Mercury is about our thinking, mentality, and ability to connect with the world around us; whilst Saturn is about 'heavy' subjects and gives me the feeling of isolation and seriousness.

The conjunction is about two energies meeting and something new starting: what this something new is depends on where the conjunction falls in your birth chart and which houses are ruled by the two planets (Mercury = Gemini and Virgo, Saturn = Capricorn and Aquarius). This aspect is one that lacks conscious awareness we are all likely to start something new in our lives or make a serious decision (Mercury/Saturn) without fully understanding the ramifications.

The combination of Mercury and Saturn in Virgo may mean that we have to work much harder than usual in explaining the details to others in a way that is understood and received successfully. We may all need to put painstaking effort in getting the details right and to make sure that others 'get it'!

As the conjunction moves away we will begin to gain clarity on exactly what is going on right now and the importance of decisions made, and actions taken.

Mars Trine Retrograde Neptune...

starts on August 17, is exact on August 18 at 11.29am in Kilmore, leaves on August 19. Mars at 25 degrees and 4 minutes of Gemini, retrograde Neptune at 25 degrees and 4 minutes of Aquarius.

Mars and Neptune usually don't mix very well, however, the trine aspect is an aspect that reminds me of a truce! Mars is about 'ego', whilst Neptune hasn't even heard of one let alone owns one.

Both planets are moving through air signs which suggests a mental component of how these energies are being expressed, so, perhaps we have the chance to intellectually understand how to better utilise our drives, passions, and ego. This is likely to be achieved through understanding that a subtle (Neptune) approach is sometimes needed in order to achieve our goals (Mars).

As usual, look to see where Mars and Neptune are travelling in your birth chart in terms of your houses and also to which houses the planets rule: Mars = Aries and Scorpio, Neptune = Pisces.

Friday, August 14, 2009

Sun Opposing Retrograde Jupiter...

starts August 14 (using a 1 degree orb), exact on August 15, and leaves on August 16. Sun at 22 degrees and 4 minutes of Leo, Retrograde Jupiter at 22 degrees and 4 minutes of Aquarius.

The Sun is like a trigger or spotlight in the dark, that illuminates something that has always been there but we notice because there is a starker focus on it than usual. The contact to Jupiter, the planet of expansion and usually good fortune suggests that we have the chance to view this planet clearly and as objectively as we will for some time (the opposition aspect puts two planets/points as far away from each other as is possible, suggesting a clear viewing of each other for all that they encompass).

This opposition brings to mind a situation or person that began or came into our lives when the Sun and Jupiter were last conjunct at 23 degrees of Aquarius around February 12 this year. As usual look to the houses involved in the aspects mentioned as well as the houses ruled by the Sun (Leo) and Jupiter (Sagittarius and Pisces).

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Mars Trine Retrograde Jupiter...

enters on August 12, exact in Kilmore on August 14 at 2.30am, leaves on August 15. Mars at 22 degrees and 12 minutes of Gemini, Retrograde Jupiter at 22 degrees and 12 minutes of Aquarius.

After experiencing the frustrating Mars/Saturn square, this current aspect is likely to be experienced as making progress at warp speed!

Mars, the planet of action and energy connecting with Jupiter (also an energetic planet) through the trine suggests that progress will be made at a good speed on the relationships and areas of life represented by these two planets in the birth chart. Look to see where this trine is falling in your birth chart and which houses are ruled by them to get an idea of where you can expect things to work out smoothly and quickly for you. If you have personal planets and/or points in Gemini and/or Aquarius then this is likely to be a particularly progressive period of time for you.

Sunday, August 9, 2009

Mars Square Saturn...

starts (1 degree orb) on August 9, exact on August 11, and leaves on August 13: Mars at 20 degrees and 26 minutes of Gemini, Saturn at 20 degrees and 26 minutes of Virgo.

Mars is the planet of action, passion, getting things done, acting before thinking, drive, direction, etc and gives us the direction we need in life to focus our energies. Saturn is often associated with responsibility, slowing down, thinking before acting, and structure.

These two planets like to get things done but have a very different approach to each other, making the connection between them frustrating - especially through the square which suggests that they will be working at cross-purposes to each other. This is likely to be an extremely frustrating and irritating period of time for everyone when we will probably feel blocked and unable to move ahead on our current path.

By looking at when these two planets were last in a hard aspect we can get an idea of what was happening then and what may need attention now. Mars and Saturn were in opposition early in April this year at 16 degrees of Pisces/Virgo.

Look at where the opposition took place in your birth chart in terms of your houses, and also the current square to get a feel for where you may need to try a different appraoch (a square is often a period of time where a new approach is needed, that leads to a turning point in a frustrating situation). Also look to see which houses have Aries, Scorpio, Capricorn and Aquarius on them to fill in the details.

Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse...

today in Kilmore at 10.55am at 13 degrees and 43 minutes of Aquarius.

This is the last eclipse on the Leo/Aquarius axis that has been happening over the last couple of years, heralding the end of a strong focus on the areas of life represented by the houses that these signs fall in.

So, this eclipse to me in a broad sense suggests that we all have the chance to sort out some loose ends as we move into a new eclipse cycle (which started last month) on the Cancer/Capricorn axis.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Mercury Trine Retrograde Pluto...

today in Kilmore at 00.11am. Mercury at 1 degree and 2 minutes of Virgo, Retrograde Pluto at 1 degree and 2 minutes of Capricorn.

Out of all the planets, Mercury is the only one that can travel to the underworld AND return! Symbolically this suggests to me that the link to Pluto now will give us insight into a situation or person that normally isn't available to us (Pluto is associated with the underworld). The trine aspect suggests that this information, realisation or new understanding will come to us relatively easily.

So, by looking to see where the transiting Mercury and Pluto are, we can get an idea where some special (and perhaps usually secret) knowledge is waiting for us. Also look to which houses have Gemini, Virgo and Scorpio on the cusps.

Monday, August 3, 2009

Mercury enters Virgo...

today in Kilmore at 9.07am.

Mercury moving from the sometimes stubborn sign of Leo into the more flexible Virgo (where Mercury happens to enjoy visiting!), suggests that whatever and whoever is represented by this planet in your birth chart will also be in a better state and more flexible than usual.

Virgo is also a practical sign that is known for its attention to detail, making this a good time for mental work that is normally a pain in the butt! I have Virgo on my 4th and 5th house cusps... mmm maybe it's time I did some housework (and gave the children a hose down)!

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Venus Opposing Retrogade Pluto...

today in Kilmore at 9.35am. Venus at 1 degree and 4 minutes of Cancer, Retrograde Pluto at 1 degree and 4 minutes of Capricorn.

This is the first aspect Venus makes as it heads into Cancer... what a baptism of fire! Venus is about how we relate and what we value, and this connection to Pluto through the opposition suggests that we are in the process of understanding what this means to us through an intensely emotional development involving another person... perhaps through learning to compromise where our values or relating skills are very different (opposition).

Pluto going backwards suggests that we need to go over old ground in regards to an illogically intense aspect of our life, this planet is associated with having to dig deep and look further than the surface at situations and the relationships in our lives.

Both Venus and Pluto are moving through cardinal signs, which suggest that the people and situations represented by these planets have more power than usual to make the changes necessary to reach a turning point (opposition). By looking back to when and where Venus and Pluto were last conjunct, we can get further information about what is happening around the current opposition. This last conjunction happened at 29 degrees of Sagittiarus around the middle of November 2008, so whatever started or whoever entered our lives around then is likely to be under objective scrutiny now!

Saturday, August 1, 2009

Venus enters Cancer...

today in Kilmore at 11.28am.

Moving from Gemini, a changeable and mental sign into the emotional and go-getting Cancer can mean that Venus is now more sentimental and ready to stand up and take action for what they feel valuable to them.

Venus is about how we relate to others and what we value (and how we value ourselves as well): during the transit of Venus through Cancer we can expect that our values may become more emotionally based than usual, and that relating skills will slant towards a mothering style.

People and situations symbolised by Venus in your birth chart may also tend towards these themes. For example, I have Taurus Rising, so having Venus travel through Cancer is likely to mean that my approach to life will be more 'Cancerian' than usual... in that I may be more emotional or involved with family matters than usual. I also have Libra on my 6th House cusp, so health issues involving Cancerian themes such as digestive upsets may be more prominent.

Look to see where Taurus and Libra are in your birth chart to get a more personalised feel for how Venus moving into Cancer may affect you.
