Sun Conjunct Retrograde Mercury...

starts today and is exact at 8.04pm, leaves on September 21. Both at 27 degrees and 35 minutes of Virgo.

Wow... poor old Virgo (and all the other mutable signs)! With so much energy being focussed here it seems that it could prove to be a very difficult OR a very liberating time!

The conjunction represents a new beginning and with Mercury retrograde part of making your new start is likely to mean incorporating something or someone from the past (look to see which houses are ruled by Mercury - these are Gemini and Virgo). Although changes to this new start are likely due to the retrograde motion of Mercury, this is still an opportunity to look to the facts, details and rational aspect of a situation in order to understand it more fully.

This is a pretty dynamic time and this configuration just adds to the potential for making the most of the current mix of energies in the sky.

Venus Square Retrograde Uranus...

today in Kilmore at 6.38am. Venus at 26 degrees and 20 minutes of Gemini, Retrograde Uranus at 26 degrees and 20 minutes of Pisces.

Ready to be 'electrified'? The combination of the laid back Venus with the eccentric and unpredictable planet Uranus may see a surprise or two for all of us! Venus is about the way we relate to others and being in Gemini suggests that this connection is more likely to be mental, or through our verbal skills as opposed to more subtle ways of handling our relatioships.

Uranus is associated with themes of changing things in our lives that have become too rigid, and also with excitment and sudden happenings: being retrograde suggests that we all need to go back to a situation that has already been given a 'going over', that needs a few final touches. The square aspect suggests that we will all have the opportunity to reach a turning point with a situation or relationship that desperately needs a change - probably of attitude!

As usual, look to see where Venus and Uranus are travelling through your birth chart, as well as which houses are ruled by these planets (Taurus, Libra and Aquarius) to get a better of idea of what, and who may be involved. This transit may be especially powerful for those of you with a strong mutable sign influence in your birth chart (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces).

Sun Square Uranus...

today in Kilmore at 12.56am (just after midnight): Sun at 26 degrees and 33 minutes of Gemini/Uranus at 26 degrees and 33 minutes of Pisces.

I picked the picture of The Tower in the tarot because it reminds me of the energy of the Sun/Uranus combination. Uranus is about radical change in our lives and in modern astrology rules electricity (see the thunderbolt hitting the Tower?)! It also seems to hit hard when we resist the changes that are needed in our lives - for example I have Taurus Rising, so I tend to suffer from resistance to change... sometimes I need a lightening bolt to throw me out of ruts that aren't doing me any favours - even if I consciously know it! Fixed signs tend to resist change, but Taurus in particular because it is also an earth sign.

Anyway, the Sun acts as a trigger to longer term energies like Uranus that tends to hang around for a long time in one degree within the sign it is travelling in. The square aspect itself is very energetic and suggests a crisis and turning point being reached with the energies represented by the planets and houses involved.

So... this is an opportunity for us all to make the changes that are needed where Uranus is symbolised in our lives... possibly through the symbolism of the Sun.

Full Moon in Sagittarius...

today in Kilmore at 4.12am (at 17 degrees and 7 minutes of Sagittarius).

Wow, the only aspect involving the Full Moon is from Saturn in Virgo squaring both the Sun and Moon! This forms a T-Square that suggests balance will be reached through hard work, adjusting and paying attention to detail. Luckily, this T-Square is in mutable signs, giving more flexibility than if it were in fixed signs.

Hopefully this configuration will give us all the motivation to successfully reach a balance in the areas highlighted by this Full Moon.

Saturn goes Direct...

today in Kilmore at 12.06pm at 14 degrees and 55 minutes of Virgo.

Yippee... this is the last leg of Saturn moving backwards and forwards before moving onto Libra. As Saturn moves forwards now and picks up speed it seems that whatever (or whoever) we have associated with hard work and lots of elbow grease that have been around since the end of 2007 will finally be sorted out... by the end of October we will be able to leave most of these themes behind us (apart from a short visit from Saturn back into Virgo in April next year that won't last long: I see this visit as a chance for fine-tuning of the changes that are happening now).

Those of you with mutable signs prominent in your birth chart are likely to be feeling the effects of this movement of Saturn more than others. Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

Sun Opposing Saturn...

in Pisces/Virgo at 6.52am today.

The Sun lights up and helps us to focus on whatever it touches... in this case Saturn, the planet of blood, sweat and tears (but also rewards for work well done).

Oppositions tend to help us see situations objectively, so the opposition between these two planets suggests that we will be able to see clearly an issue that began when these two planets were conjunct early in September 2008. By looking at where the conjunction happened in your birth chart you can get an idea of what is being addressed by the opposition now.

Being in the Pisces/Virgo signs suggests that there is an element of needing to pay attention to details vs the need to dream and look at the big picture, we may all need to learn to balance these two approaches in whichever areas of the birth chart where this opposition falls.

Moon enters Gemini...

at 1.14pm in Kilmore today.

Gemini is a changeable, air sign suggesting that we will find it difficult to make our minds up about things in general. Great time for catching up with others, socialising and enjoying a bit of a chit-chat.
